Will worked with Ben and Mark of BCMH to design the Uniqlo Autumn/Winter press day held at the Vinyl Factory in central London on 25/05/11.
Four science experiments were designed to showcase the technical quality of selected garments.

Luke joined the project to design the lighting and sound. High-spec photograpic lighting equipment was used to compliment the technical ambience of the space and provide excellent colour rendition.

Smith & Wightman design The Poundshop interior at Super Christmas Market 2010.
Conceived as a log cabin within a larger space, the wood and cardboard installation provided an inspiring, secure and festive showcase for the many products on sale.

Special thanks to Josh Browne and Tom Judge for their help with the build, and Paul at Architainment for loan of ColorBlast luminaires.

And thanks to Sarah, Sara and George of The Poundshop for bringing us on board and being lovely poeple to work with.

Smith & Wightman collaborated with BCMH to produce Mint for the If You Could exhibition

If You Could Collaborate is the fourth annual If You Could exhibition. Aiming to provide a platform for the finest creatives from all over the world to question their conventional working methods and outcomes. The contributors have been challenged to produce something a little unexpected, by working with a partner of their choosing from any discipline, profession or background. There is no brief to answer, or format to honour – the only limit being the enterprise and imagination of the artists involved, and a liberal 12 month deadline.

The catalogue is published by It’s Nice That in an edition of 1,500.

The show ran 15 — 23 January 2010 at the A Foundation Gallery, the Rochelle School, London..

Description

MINT is a series of objects of different value that operate as a currency. The objects have accrued their value through the amount of time invested in them. Time embedded in the material (through harvesting/ extracting and processing) and then time spent in fabrication.
In making this collection of objects, and clearly stating their relative value, we ask how much of the value of an object resides wihin it, and how much is brought to it by the potential owner? Why do certain forms or materials look more expensive than others? What is the value of an object with no apparent function?
